The Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world. Begining its journey high on the Tibetan plateau it flows some 3,900 miles through China to Shanghai and the East China and Yellow seas. It is known by the Chinese as the Chang Jiang, meaning long river and is one of the many included highlights on our Very Best of China Tour.

Cruising between Chongqing and Yichang our cruise covers the popular Three Gorges region – Qutang Gorge, arguably the most majestic. Over three days, we’ll navigate the Yangtze’s jade-green waters as we witness picturesque landscapes, lush hillsides and ancient temples. The Yangtze’s charming banks steeped in fascinating history and breathtaking natural beauty just waiting to be explored.

The Journey
Journeying east along the river from Chongqing, prepare to witness a tapestry of cultural landmarks and breathtaking landscapes, through a selection of included and optional shore excursions. As we wind our way along the Yangtze, be amazed by the river’s impressive gorges, Qutang whilst learning about the diversity of ancient Chinese traditions and the country’s fascinating history.

The staterooms aboard both vessels have been meticulously crafted to ensure a comfortable stay. Each balcony cabin offering panoramic sliding doors allowing guests to take in the passing scenery. Distant Journeys’ guests will be accommodated in spacious Deluxe Cabins.

Life on board
Immerse yourself in life on board from the comfort of your private balcony or venture out to one of the expansive observation decks where panoramic views await. An abundance of activities can be enjoyed on board, from presentations on traditional Chinese medicine to authentic Tai Chi lessons. For a touch of tranquillity, retreat to the Reading Room where you can lose yourself in the pages of a captivating book while we cruise the shores of the Yangtze.

Dining
On both vessels, meals are served in the main dining room. Served buffet style, breakfast, lunch and dinner offer a wide variety of western and Chinese cuisine for guests to sample. Whilst dining, a selection of house wine, local beer and soft drinks will be available at no extra charge.

For guests upgrading to a Superior cabin or suites, dining will be in the Pavilion restaurant.

The final night of the cruise brings all guests together to enjoy the Captain’s Farewell Banquet.
