This half-day tour to Thanh Dong organic farm brings you closer to the beauty of Hoi An’s countryside and its friendly people. You will join them in their daily work of organic farming and you also get to cook our own lunch with the host’s assistance. Not only is it a truly authentic experience, but it also supports the local community.
After pick up from the hotel in Hoi An, you start the day by cycling through the picturesque countryside, passing the local rice fields, orchards and maybe also a market for a closer look at everyday life.
Arrive at a village pier and take a short ride in a traditional basket boat meandering through the channels of Coco-palm mangrove forest. Next, you proceed to Thanh Dong – an organic farm run by the village seniors. Here you will be welcomed by local farmers who will happily share their story about this community-based project. Following this interesting conversation, you’ll be invited to join in their daily work, such as applying organic manure, making organic pesticides to control and prevent pests, and cultivating the soil for planting and watering.
Later, you will return to the farmer’s house and use the produce harvested from the organic vegetable garden to cook a well-earned Vietnamese lunch with our host, and enjoy eating it in the beautiful garden surrounds. Return by bicycle to the hotel at around 13:00hrs.
