Borneo Tours

Discover the best of Borneo on our 17-day escorted tour

Borneo, the world’s third-largest island, is shared by Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei, and is a popular destination for those seeking adventure, wildlife and nature. Borneo is renowned for its ancient rainforests, vibrant rivers, towering mountains, and rich indigenous cultures, and boasts a tropical climate, vibrant cities and pristine beaches. One of Borneo’s greatest treasures is its extraordinary biodiversity. Home to some of the oldest rainforests on earth, Borneo is an ecological marvel with rainforests offering sanctuary to unique wildlife, including the endangered orangutan, pygmy elephants, and the elusive clouded leopard.

Our 17-day Very Best of Borneo tour gives us the chance to relish in the island’s many wonders whilst immersing ourselves in Bornean life. Beyond the rare wildlife, we explore the island’s rich heritage, as well as the hustle and bustle of its cities, such as Kota Kinabalu. We journey along the northwest coast and discover the states of Sarawak and Sabah. While Sabah is known for being a haven of nature, wildlife, idyllic beaches and tropical rainforests, Sarawak offers historical exploration and cultural immersion.

Of course, no trip to Borneo would be complete without seeing the endangered Orangutans, which is why we visit the Rehabilitation Centres in Semenggoh and Sepilok. Here we can witness feeding time and see Orangutans swinging through the trees above. We also enjoy a three-night stay at a riverside lodge on the Kinabatangan River, with several wildlife-spotting cruises available, giving us the chance to see endemic birds and mammals from onboard.

Along the way, you’ll be guided by our expert Distant Journeys Tour Manager, who is there to ensure you get the very best from your holiday. You’ll also have local guides along the way who can provide insight and area-specific knowledge.

For anyone wishing to enjoy real exclusivity on a touring holiday to Borneo, our Very Best of Borneo is available as a Private Tour. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or a group of friends who like to holiday together, you will find the option of Private Touring in Borneo surprisingly affordable.

Not ready to leave yet? Extend your Very Best of Borneo adventure with a three-night stay at one of Borneo’s incredible beaches. Choose from Kota Kinabalu Beach, or head to the tropical paradise of Gaya Island on the hillside of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. Or, make the most of your journey home with a homebound stopover in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
